This is a nice clean Skylark Convertible. I have replaced all the front steering components, from ball joints to bushings and the front end is all pretty tight and very reliable now. There is no wandering and you can feel comfortable knowing the car will go where you point it. The brakes have been done, as well as new front brake lines. The transmission was serviced and the car was recently tuned up. It runs well, drives well, and is stable at hiway speeds. You can let go of the steering wheel and not wonder where the car will go, as it tracks nicely.
The car was painted some 12-15 years ago, and while it is not show quality, the car makes for a great driver that you can take to any cruise night or local car show. Other than the paint, for the most part the car is original. Top, interior, bumpers, trim etc, are original to the car. The chrome trim and bumpers are still in pretty nice condition, especially when you consider they are 47 years old, the rear window on the top is ageing and showing a darkening in the plastic. Top itself is good, and has one tiny cut approximately 1/4 inch on one of the forward bows. By no means does it need replacing. Interior is in good condition, the carpeting has been re-dyed as it was faded from the sun. The original floor mats are still in the car. Again, I want to reiterate this is not a show quality car that has gone through a restoration and is showroom pretty. It is just a nice, clean, mostly original driver that can be enjoyed, and driven.
The engine is a 300 2V that runs very well. Compression on all 8 cylinders is within a couple of pounds on each one. Its not using or leaking oils. There are 83,000 on the engine and car.
The car is equipped with the following options, Power Steering, power drum brakes, power windows, power bench seat, and rare factory cruise control. The cruise still works and will hold the car at a steady speed, even when going up and down hills. I removed the factory fender skirts and will include these with the car. In the rear wheel well I added a trim molding from a 66 Skylark. It is not a perfect fit, but looks good on the car. The car came with a set of steel wheels with hubcaps, it took them off, as the tires were near 20 years old and put on a set of the Buick Rallye wheels with BFG radials in 225/60/14. I had a set of the chrome center caps with the red bird emblems and put them on to set the wheels off. I think it makes for a nice look on the car.
I would prefer that anyone interested in the car come and look, and drive the car. I don't feel that too many will be disappointed.
